One Vote

Walking into the booth and closing the curtain behind places me in a position that I am not used to. It is time to decide who will be the future leader of the country. Images of a prosperous economy flash before my mind. Who should I chose? Which candidate has the best policies? Why am I even voting? What possible difference could my vote make?

One vote, just like one player can make a difference.

Amber Malvin, a 5'6" guard from Alexandria, MN, has cast her vote and has become a Dakota State University Lady T. The daughter of Dave and Lynn Malvin comes to Madison from Jefferson High School.

As a high school athlete, Amber averaged 8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as a junior. She also garnered a number of awards prior to her senior year. As an Honorable Mention All-Conference player, she also received the Best Defensive Player of the Year nomination. Minnesota Basketball News named Amber to the Minnesota Pre-Season Top 100 player list.  Amber also participated in softball and was named to the All-Conference Team.

Amber currently has her team on track to win a Central Lakes Conference championship this season.  With six games remaining, Alexandria sports an 8-1 conference record and 13-5 overall mark.  Alexandria is currently ranked 11th in the Minnesota AAA basketball polls.  Individually, Amber is averaging 8.4 points a night while shooting 53% from the field and 78% from the three-point arc from her point guard position.

At Dakota State, Amber will be a Physical Education major.
