Jennie Sonne Named to
DAC-10 All-Conference Squad

Dakota State, 6-1 junior post Jennie Sonne was named to the Third Team All-Conference squad.  A Mt. Vernon, South Dakota prep star, Sonne has been cited for selection to the All-Conference squad for the second year in a row.  An elementary education major, Jennie is the daughter of Greg and Char Sonne.

"I was very pleased with the selection of Jennie to the all-conference team," said Jeff Dittman, DSU's head women's basketball coach.  "She had another outstanding season for our team, leading the team in field goal percentage (57%) and finishing in the top ten in the league in rebounding and field goal percentage.  I feel Jennie is one of the top three low post players in the league."  Sonne was also listed as one of the league's top scorers until a virus forced her to miss two games late in the season and play sparingly in three more.

Dickinson State University's Stacie Schorsch was named the Most Valuable Performer in the Dakota-10 Conference while Minot State's Kayla Blom was chosen the Most Valuable Senior and Roger Haug of the University of Mary was the DAC-10 Coach of the Year in post-season awards for the 2001-02 season.   Also cited were Lindsey Eliason of Mayville State University as the Defensive Player of the Year and Kara Peterson of Jamestown College and Jessica Zundel of the University of Mary as Co-Freshmen Players of the Year.  The announcement was made in connection with the naming of the conference's three honor units.

Schorsch, a 6-foot-1 junior center, averaged 17.9 points and a conference-best 9.4 rebounds a game as she helped the Blue Hawks to a 21-9 overall mark and a second place finish in conference play.  Schorsch was an impending force at both ends of the court, scoring and rebounding at one end while blocking shots at the other.

Joining Schorsch on the first team were Kayla Blom (Minot State), Lindsey Eliason (Mayville State), Molly Anderson (Valley City State), and Ruth Buffalo (Huron University).  Second team All-Conference performers included  Jaime Rathjen (S.D. Tech), Miaken Ziegler (S.D. Tech), Jessie Slinde (U. of Mary), Amanda Schelle (Black Hills State) and Melissa Leno (Valley City State).

The third team All-Conference squad consisted of Sonne, Darcy Reinicke (Black Hills State), Jamie Lamoureaux (Minot State), Jessica Kinnebrew (Dickinson State) and Shaylee Bebee (U. of Mary).
