However, that will be at least three seasons away. Right now, Sonne, who completed her sophomore season for Jeff Dittman's "Sweet 16" NAIA Div. II Women's Tournament Lady T's, is making a name for herself after being tabbed as one of the Dakota Athletic Conference's first-team players. "Jennie had a tremendous sophomore year for us in the post," says Dittman, who credits Sonne for helping the Lady T's to a 23-9 record and a second-straight appearance in "The Big Show." "She led the country in field goal shooting and was our second-leading scorer on the team," adds Dittman. Sonne was a 67-percent field goal marksman, going 168 of 251 prior to the Sioux City NAIA Div. II Tournament junket. She collected all of those field goals inside the three-point arc. In the NAIA Nationals, Sonne tacked on 10 more field goals, tying with fellow All DAC-10 first-teamer and Lady T Kathy Shypulski with 178 field goals this past season. They're tied for fifth on the all-time DSU single-season field goals roster. The 6-foot-2 Mt. Vernon sophomore, had a solid 75-111, 68-percent showing at the charity stripe. Those figures accounted for her 411 points and a 13.7 ppg average before the NAIA Nationals. She was second only to Jessica Honermann on the team with 25 blocked shots this past season. Those 25 stops placed her 10th on DSU's single-season and career blocked shots list. Sonne also produced a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per game in DAC-10 play and 204 nabs prior to the national tourney in Sioux City, where she added 18 more nabs in games against Indiana Southeast and St. Francis. "Jennie gave us a solid low post game every night we played," says Dittman. "We never felt anyone had a post player better than ours." Dittman beams just thinking about having Sonne in the lineup the next two seasons. "I'm looking forward to working with Jennie the next two years," concludes Dittman. "I think she has the potential to be the best in the country if she continues to work like she has the past two years."
