Ryan Burggraff,
Matt Nulle and Ian McKeithen powered Dakota State University to
its fifth men's basketball win of the year Saturday when the
Trojans thumped Trinity Bible College 103-68 in Ellendale, N.D.
Burggraff and Nulle each stuffed in 18 points and McKeithen added
16 as the Trojans (5-13) shot a healthy 42-for-69 from the field,
which included seven 3-pointers, and 12-20 at the freethrow line.
Anthony Scott tacked on nine points, while Blake Hyde and Ben Ryan
also had twin 6-point outings.
Kyle Konopasek also dished out seven assists, while Burggraff and
Sal Raphael each had a pair of steals.
Dakota State led by 14 points, 50-36, and halftime and was even
more effect in the second half, outscoring Trinity 53-32.
"We did a super job of executing our zone attack," said
DSU coach Tim Schuring. "Our team has struggled with that
lately, so it was gratifying to see us break out of that
funk."
Trinity, which shot 23-64 in field goals (including eight 3s) and
14-23 at the charity stripe, got 13 points from Jarrett Grant and
a dozen apiece from both Marcus Montana and John Flemmer. Derek
Simonson also contributed 10 points.
Simonson also had five assists, while Rex Causey added four
steals.
"This was a nice win for us," concluded Schuring.
"But, now it's back to life in the DAC-10. We play two
nationally-ranked opponents this week in Dickinson and Minot.
We'll need to find a way to step up to the challenge."
Dakota State returns to N.D., playing at Dickinson Friday and
Minot Saturday. |
