Dakota State
University suffered a pair men's college basketball losses to the
University of Mary and Jamestown College in North Dakota.
The Trojans (2-9) fell to the University of Mary
Friday in Bismarck and 89-71 to Jamestown College Saturday in Jamestown.
In both games, the Trojans outscored their DAC-10 foes in the second half,
but couldn't erase first-half deficits.
Trailing Mary 45-36 at halftime Friday, the Trojans had a 41-39 scoring
run.
"This was a very fine outing for our team -- just not a great outcome,"
said DSU Coach Tim Schuring. "We showed signs of what our team is capable
of on both ends of the floor."
On Saturday against Jamestown, DSU trailed the Jimmies 51-27 but then had
a 44-38 second half.
"We reached deep within ourselves at halftime (against Jamestown)," added
Schuring. "I was proud of the way we fought in the second half. We are
going to need that effort the rest of the way if we are going to be
competitive against DAC-10 opponents."
DSU hosts DAC-10 foes Minot State and Dickinson State Friday and Saturday
on the DSU Fieldhouse. Friday's contest begins at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday's
gametime is 5 p.m.
