Trojans gain Harter Classic split, Iowa Wesleyan goes 2-0 in tourney

Orion Garo, Dakota State University's 6-foot-10 Albanian center, popped in 14 points and led five Trojans into double-figures scoring territory Saturday. DSU gained a 79-72 win over Waldorf College (3-2) in the Ed Harter Classic.

Kyle Konopasek and J.F. Jensen contributed respective 13- and 12-point displays for DSU, while Matt Nulle and Sal Raphael each had 10 to round out the Trojans' double-digit scoring.

"This was a huge game for us," said Tim Schuring, DSU's head coach. "Every season, there are some games more than others that help teams define themselves and test their maturity levels. This was one of them. We needed to bounce back quickly after such an emotional loss on Friday, and we did."

Individually, Schuring was pleased with the post play of Garo and Nulle.

"Orion and Matt needed a breakout game. Hopefully, this was it!"

Saturday's win by DSU (2-3) made up for its 83-73 loss to Iowa Wesleyan (5-2) Friday in the opening round of the Harter Classic.
