Dakota Wesleyan put
together a 44-33, first half and went on to hand Dakota State
(2-4) a 78-67 men's college basketball setback at the Corn Palace
in Mitchell Tuesday.
Both teams scored 34 points in the second half.
J.F. Jensen and Blake Hyde each had 10 points to lead the Trojans'
balanced-scoring attack. Sal Raphael and Ryan Burggraff
contributed nine-point games, while Matt Nulle and Ian McKeithen
had respective eight- and seven-point outings.
The Trojans went just 22-for-60 in field-goal shooting, which
included six 3's, but they were close to perfection at the charity
stripe, going 17-19.
Dakota Wesleyan got double-figures scoring from Michael Stevenson,
David Nour, Matt Culhane and Derrick Robinson.
Stevenson had a tilt-tops 20 points, followed by Nour, Culhane and
Robinson with their respective 14-, 13- and 12-point displays.
The Tigers banged in field goals at a 34-68 clip, converting five
3-pointers.
DWU also produced a three-rebound, 37-34, edge over the Trojans
with Kory Petoske claiming eight rebounds and Stevenson seven.
The Trojans got respective seven- and five-rebound outings from
Burggraff and Orion Garo.
DSU travels to St. Bonifacious, Minn., Friday, taking on Crown
College.
