DSU Shootout Features 18 Teams

When Coach Tim Schuring left the hardwood at the Dakota State University Fieldhouse late June 11, he was a satisfied coach.

“Any time we are able to have over 180 high school basketball players in our facility we have to be pleased,” said Schuring.

“Schuring and his staff directed a two day team camp format which saw those 180 plus players compete in 6 games each for their respective high school teams.  “The goal of the shootout was to help each high school team prepare for the upcoming season,” add Schuring.  “I am quite comfortable that we provided that kind of an environment.”

Coaches and players came from eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota are high schools. South Dakota schools represented were Madison, Brandon Valley, Howard, Hamlin, Brookings, Tri-Valley, Flandreau, Viborg and Castlewood.  Minnesota schools included Adrian, Canby, Ivanhoe (Lincoln High), and Luverne. Many schools sent varsity and junior varsity teams.
