Master's in Information Systems Project: Sequence of Activities
MSIS project proposal
  • Preliminary discussion with advisor
  • Selection of project committee which includes a minimum of: project advisor, two members of MSIS Graduate Faculty, faculty member outside of MSIS program, and an external review when appropriate.
  • Project Approval Form which includes project description. This will be a detailed document laying out specific goals and plans for the project.
  • Proposal must be presented to and accepted by the project committee. If the proposal is unsatisfactory, the student will be informed of the deficiencies and asked to resubmit.

MSIS project updates

  • The student and advisor are expected to hold meetings to monitor progress on the project. This will allow the advisor to provide feedback to the student before the final presentation.
  • Committee members should also be kept informed of significant milestones or program modifications.

MSIS project evaluation – Final presentation

  • The project will be presented to the project committee.
  • The presentation will be announced at least one week in advance and open to any other interested individuals.
  • The project report must be submitted to all committee members at least one week prior the presentation.
  • The project will be evaluated according to the Project Evaluation Form.
  • Minor problems will be addressed by small updated monitored by the advisor.
  • Major deficiencies will require that the student modify the project and then go through the report/presentation process again.
