Tek.Xam: During Fall 1999, forty-nine DSU students participated in the pilot testing of a new on-line computer exam. The Information Technology Certification exam, Tek.Xam, is a standardized test which measures students’ skills in five areas: computing concepts, web design, spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software. DSU students were more successful than students from around the country in four of the five sections on the exam. In addition, 35% of the DSU students were certified (passed all five sections) compared to 30% of the students nationwide.
