To ensure that students are proficient in the skills
necessary to successfully complete general education coursework, student
competencies in reading, writing, and math are evaluated. All incoming,
degree-seeking students must provide valid Enhanced ACT scores or complete
computerized placement tests in reading, writing and mathematics. To be valid,
the student must have taken the Enhanced ACT examination within five years of
the date of enrollment. For all students without valid ACT scores, the ACT
COMPASS (computerized placement tests) will be used to determine placement in
English, math, and reading courses.
Because computer skills are critical to DSU's
mission, student's computing skills are evaluated using a multiple-choice
computer skills test.
