Proficiency Scores: DSU Students Compared to South Dakota and National User Norms

All degree-seeking students in the regental system must meet the minimum required score on each of the four Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) exams.  Students who do not meet the minimum required score remediate and retest in that area(s) within one year.  During academic year 2007-08, 10% of the DSU students did not meet the minimum score on one or more of the exams compared to 16% of the students during 2006-07.  On a system basis, 9.5% of the students required remediation in one or more areas during 2006-07.

Prior to Fall 2007, students receiving special accommodations were included in the percentages. The 2007-08 data excludes students who received special accommodations.  The system results for the 2007-08 year will be published Fall 2008. The national user norms include data from four-year college sophomores.
