Liberal Arts

ART
The Art department within the College of Arts and Sciences offers baccalaureate degrees in two academic areas: Bachelor of Science in Multimedia / Web Development and Bachelor of Science in Computer Graphic Design. An Associate of Art in General Studies is also offered. Minors are offered in Art, Computer Graphics, and Multimedia / Web Development. A Liberal Arts Information Systems Management certificate with modules in four areas: Digital Photography, Multimedia, Multimedia and Design Production, and Website Design and Development. Classes are offered in two academic areas: Art and Mass Communications. The Art Club has been an active part of the Art Department and welcomes students interested in all aspects of the visual arts.

ENGLISH
The English department within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers baccalaureate degrees in two academic areas: Bachelor of Science in English for Information Systems and Bachelor of Science in English Education. An Associate of Art in General Studies is also offered. A minor is offered in English. Classes are offered in six academic areas: Academic Skills, Education Foundations, English and Linguistics, Honors, Library Media, and Mass Communications. The organizations affiliated with the English department are the Trojan Times (student newspaper), New Tricks (student literary magazine), and Sigma Tau Delta (English honor society).

LANGUAGES
The Languages department within the College of Arts and Sciences currently does not offer any baccalaureate degrees. An Associate of Art in General Studies is offered. Minors are offered in Spanish and French. Classes are offered in two academic areas: Indian Education and Languages. The organization affiliated with the Languages department is the Dakota Language Institute.

MUSIC
The Music department within the College of Arts and Sciences currently does not offer any baccalaureate degrees. An Associate of Art in General Studies is offered. Minors are offered in Music, Instrumental Music, and Vocal Music. Classes are offered in the Music academic area. The Music Department also offers activity classes in Band and Chorus. The DSU Singers present several concerts throughout the year and sing at Fall and Spring Commencement.

SOCIAL SCIENCES
The Social Sciences department within the College of Arts and Sciences currently does not offer any baccalaureate degrees. An Associate of Art in General Studies is offered. Minors are offered in History and Sociology. Social Science classes are offered in Geography, History, Humanities/Computing for Humanities, Mass Communication, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology.

SPEECH/THEATRE
The Speech/Theatre department within the College of Arts and Sciences currently does not offer any baccalaureate degrees. An Associate of Art in General Studies is offered. A minor is offered in Speech Communication/Theatre. Classes are offered in two academic areas: Speech Communication and Theatre. The drama club, Fear the Turkey, is affiliated with the Speech/Theatre department.
