About the Artist
Joni Schoenfelder is a photographer living in Mitchell, South Dakota. She received art education in Sitka, Alaska as well as a formal photography degree in Chicago, Illinois. Although she specializes in weddings, events, and portraits she enjoys still lives and landscapes in her free time.

Artist's Statement
I am a South Dakotan, born and raised. As a photographer and generally curious person, I travel quite often and found myself spending a year and a half in Chicago where I graduated from Harrington College of Design for photography.
A small town lady in the big city, I often told stories of growing up on the plains. Many of my classmates had never even been on a farm!
These images were taken on a trip home this past fall. I captured them partly to remind myself of the country I love, but mostly so I could bring the country back to Chicago. They became one of my final projects as well as a big hit.
I hope that these photos can serve as a small reminder of the amazing community we live in.
