DSU's Terry Ryan receives Distinguished Service Award

Dakota State University Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, Terry Ryan, recently received the Distinguished Service Award for the year 2001 at the annual National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region IV-West conference held in Oklahoma City, OK in November.

“Being recognized by my own professional peers is really an honor for me,” said Ryan about the award. “And it brings recognition to the campus as well.”

NASPA is a professional association for persons working within Student Affairs in higher education. Region IV-West consists of ten states, including the Dakotas, with over 750 members. There were about 220 members at the conference.

Ryan currently serves on the regional Advisory Board, a three-year term, and has done so on three previous occasions. He’s worked in the region for all 30 years that he’s been in Student Affairs.

“The conference gives me the opportunity to network with others on a regional level,” added Ryan. “It’s a way for working professionals to keep up with what’s going on in their profession.”
