Generous Gift Allows Dakota State to Expand

Dakota State University will be expanding facilities in Madison, it was announced by Dr. Jerald A. Tunheim, DSU's President. The Dakota State University Foundation has signed a contract of sale to obtain the property currently owned and occupied by Robert and Karen Eastman at 802 North Washington. The acquisition will be used by the Foundation to help the University expand its severely overtaxed parking facilities. In recent years, significant growth in the number of students living off campus has made parking on the grounds increasingly difficult.

"We were able to make this purchase only through the generosity of a specific donor, Dr. G. Donald Montgomery of San Diego, California," said Dr. Tunheim. "Dr. Montgomery, after visiting our campus and discussing our space problems, sent a specially designated contribution to the Foundation whose sole purpose was to purchase the Eastman property. We are very grateful. Without his dedicated effort, this project would not have been possible.

Current plans call for the Eastman's to retain their home and move the structure to another lot. The University hopes to begin resurfacing the property early this coming fall.
