Senate Appropriations Committee

Senator Karl E. Mundt Served on the United States Senate Appropriations Committee from 1953-1972. At the time of his stroke, he was the second ranking member on the Senate Appropriations Committee. The Karl E. Mundt Foundation Archive Records house thousands of letters that he had received from citizens all across the country requesting his attention to specific concerns and imploring him to use his position on the committee to secure funding for their causes.

Senator Mundt used some of his influence on the Senate Appropriations Committee to benefit his home state of South Dakota. Two large South Dakota projects that he aided in securing funding for were the Eros Data Center and Interstates I-90 and I-29.
